FIX: Seamless Transitions (and some other transitions) show a black background / placeholder in Premiere Pro

If a transition drops onto your timeline as a black frame - or a raw “placeholder” frame instead of the actual transition - in the Program Monitor, this was a bug on our side and it is fixed.

What was happening

When you import one of these transitions, the plugin has to swap a placeholder inside the template for your own footage. For a stretch of time this automatic swap did not run on some packs, so the transition was left sitting on its placeholder - which reads as a black frame over your clips.

It affected Seamless Transitions and a few other transition packs, for items imported roughly between early June and July 16, 2026.

What we did

We corrected it on July 16, 2026. Re-exported pack files no longer carry the issue, and newly imported transitions swap in your footage automatically.

How to fix it

Redownload the affected pack so you get the corrected files:

  1. In Pack Manager, right-click the pack box and choose “Delete files”.
  2. Click the box again to download the latest version.
  3. Import the transition again.

If a transition still shows black after redownloading, send us a report with Shift+W in Pack Manager and tell us the pack, the item, and your Premiere version.
