FIX: "PREFType is undefined" error in Premiere Pro (AEJuice panel)

If your import in Premiere Pro stops with an error that mentions:

PREFType is undefined

(the full message is usually “ReferenceError: PREFType is undefined”), this was a bug on our side and it is fixed.

What was happening

Our plugin has an auto-save safety feature. On Premiere Pro it was calling something that only exists in After Effects, so as soon as that ran, the plugin reported the “PREFType is undefined” error and the action stopped. It is an error message, not a Premiere crash - Premiere keeps running, but the import or action fails.

What we did

We fixed it on June 18, 2026. Every Pack Manager release from the end of June 2026 onward is unaffected.

How to fix it

Update Pack Manager to the latest version:

Windows: https://aejuice.com/pack_manager/AEJuice_Pack_Manager.zip?utm_source=aejuice_forum&utm_content=fix-preftype-is-undefined
macOS: https://aejuice.com/pack_manager/AEJuice_Pack_Manager_mac.zip?utm_source=aejuice_forum&utm_content=fix-preftype-is-undefined

Close Premiere Pro before installing, then reopen it and try again.

If you still see the “PREFType is undefined” error after updating, send us a report with Shift+W in Pack Manager and tell us which pack and item you were importing.
