Error message: Audio file is empty (0 bytes)
Symptom: Auto Captions or Auto Subtitles stops right after it starts and shows an error saying the audio file is empty. It happens on every attempt, no matter which caption style you pick, and no matter how long the clip is.
Who it affected: anyone whose composition name is written in a non-Latin script - Telugu, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Arabic and so on. If the composition name contained no Latin letters or digits at all, captions could never run on it.
Why it happened: before transcribing, Pack Manager exports the audio of your composition to a temporary file and names that file after the composition. Non-Latin characters were being dropped from that name, which left the audio file with no name at all - so there was nothing for the transcription step to read.
The fix: open Pack Manager and press Shift+D (or click the logo icon and choose “Start autodownload scripts”). That pulls the corrected scripts straight away - no reinstall needed. It will also be included in the next release.
After that, run Auto Captions or Auto Subtitles again. You do not need to rename anything, and nothing else in your project needs to change.
Tip: when testing captions, set the work area to 5-10 seconds first and run it. You get the result in about a minute and confirm it works, instead of processing the whole clip - and it does not spend AI credits on a full-length run.
